Happy Mother's Day to all Gaia mothers.
Today, I am honoring in memory my own beautiful mom, Mary. She was fun and witty with
an incredible sense of humor. She left this world five years ago and left behind three loving daughters and one adoring son. Not to mention many grandchildren.
Mom told me when I was very young a philosophy I have lived by: "Honey, as long as you're going through this world anyway, you might as well make a splash." She wanted me to dream big and never be afraid to ask for what I wanted.
Mom made a "splash"with color. She loved color - especially purple and somehow, she always "sparkled." She also absolutely loved to dance.
When she was 68, she took a bellydance class at the local senior center. She had the time of her life. The Denver Post did an article on the senior center and the belly dance class . The article was published with a large picture of my mom, tangled up in her veil and laughing, that took up over half of one page. Mom became a "centerfold" senior.
Today, I like to think she's dancing in heaven and can see again. And she's probably still having trouble with that veil!
Thanks, mom, for making a big "splash" in all the happy years you were with us. We love you so much.
